Customers have long express a desire for a flux injector that would serve three purposes.
First, they need an injector that will inject a high rate of flux ranging from 1 lb to 6 lbs per minute depending upon their needs. 1-2 lbs. per minute for normal furnace fluxing. 2-3 lbs. for sludge removal from the bottom. 4-6 lbs. per minute injection calcium removal flux or magnesium removal fluxes.
Second, many casters have the need to inject into small crucibles and die cast holding machines. Injecting into a small furnace requires a lower gas flow to prevent spilling as well as a lower rate of flux. Sometime the flux rate is reduced to 1 to 2 ounces per minute.
Third, Some customers are using our injectors for continuous automatic fluxing. They have learned that fluxing over a longer period of time with our injector and metal pump system have numerous benefits.
A. Automatic fluxing is possible as the pump distributes the flux through out the entire furnace. The furnace operator simply fills the hopper once a shift, pushes a button and that's it!
B . Lowering the flux rate per minute to a small amount allows full utilization of the flux. (excessive flux feed rates allows some flux to float to the surface unused.) This unused flux is the primary source of smoke.
C. Using our injector, pump and the proper feed rate can eliminate almost all smoke and emission problems.
We have developed a dual venturi design. The first vortex is large and capable of injecting up to 6 lbs. per minute. The second venturi is very small and is used with an alternative hose system to inject micro amounts of flux. It is ideal for continuous injection as well as small crucibles and die cast holding machines.
